Frequently Asked Questions
We are a team of experienced criminal lawyers based out of Edmonton, Alberta. We defend people who are charged with criminal and regulatory offences all over Western Canada.
Sound legal representation is the only way to achieve successful results when facing serious criminal charges. Pringle Law offers experienced criminal lawyers who can provide expert advice and counsel to protect your rights.
Regular Albertans, often people without criminal records, frequently find themselves facing these serious criminal allegations, which can put their livelihood – and even their freedom – at risk.
Not only are the repercussions potentially life-changing and long-term, but if you are found guilty of committing a crime, the effects can negatively impact your family, career, and future. An experienced criminal lawyer is essential to protect your interests.
Additionally, a lawyer can tell you what types of sentences people usually receive for different kinds of offences, and explain how you may be able to avoid a conviction or criminal record.
If you are questioning whether or not you need a criminal lawyer, it is important to talk to a lawyer so you understand what you are facing, as well as your options. This can help clarify the situation and ensure that you understand your rights during the process.
Our main office is located in downtown Edmonton Alberta, at 300-10150 100 Street NW.
We are pleased to serve our clients in person from our 100 Street Place office, located conveniently across the street from the Stanley A. Milner Edmonton Public Library where clients can take advantage of the underground parking.
In addition to our downtown office, we are also pleased to serve clients across Western Canada and the Northwest Territories and are able to accommodate virtual and phone consultations.
We aim to give the client a general idea, if not a firm quotation of the costs involved in the defence of his or her criminal charges upon conclusion of the initial consultation.
It could be, however, that disclosure (the police reports to be provided by the Crown Prosecutors’ Office) is required before a final fee is agreed upon. It is not unusual for the process of receiving disclosure to take anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks, and sometimes longer.
In general, our lawyers will provide a flat rate as opposed to an hourly rate for legal fees. Some of our members will quote a flat fee plus disbursements and G.S.T.; others will quote a flat fee inclusive of disbursements and G.S.T.
We accept payments in the form of cash, cheque, money order, Visa, MasterCard, debit, and wire transfer.
In the event that an individual is unable to provide all funds in one lump sum, our firm does offer payment plans. We do understand that legal fees can be unexpected and onerous, and arrangements can be discussed further with our lawyers with respect to payment plans. Please see Fees for more information.
We pride ourselves on our straightforward, client-centred approach as well as our excellent communication skills. Our team is highly experienced and we are known for providing legal services at the highest level, with the highest ethical standards.
We recommend you make an appointment to meet with one of our lawyers as soon as possible after initial contact is made. During this free initial consultation, we will discuss the allegations and make an assessment about the best way our firm can assist you.
Several of our lawyers are members of the Legal Aid Roster and are pleased to assist those individuals approved for Legal Aid coverage. If you wish further information regarding Legal Aid Alberta, please visit their website.
