Stephen Brophy completed a Bachelors of Engineering at Carleton University in 2010 and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in 2017. He went on to complete his articles under Justice Kent J Teskey, now of the Alberta Court of King’s Bench. Stephen was called to the bar in 2018.
Prior to pursuing a legal career, Stephen served as an Engineer Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. He served with 4 Engineer Service Regiment and 1 Combat Engineer Regiment and trained at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineer. As an Engineer Officer, Stephen had the privilege of commanding troops and participating in high-readiness training and other military operations. While criminal law is exciting, Stephen sometimes misses building bridges and blowing things up! After releasing from the Regular Forces to attend law school and pursue a legal career, Stephen served in the Primary Reserves. Stephen has since fully released from the Canadian Armed Forces.
While at law school, Stephen volunteered and was employed with Student Legal Services. He assisted people with limited-means with summary conviction matters. He was also employed as a summer student at the Edmonton Rural and Regional Response Crown Prosecutor’s Office, where he learned about the other side of criminal law.
In 2017, Stephen was awarded the Norman J Pollock, KC, Prize in Advocacy by the University of Alberta Faculty of Law for his superior academic achievement in the advocacy course.
Stephen represents clients charged with all offences, in all levels of court, all over Alberta. He practices out of Pringle Law’s Edmonton and Grande Prairie offices. Stephen looks forward to being your advocate, and to leading you through the often-difficult and stressful experience of being charged with an offence.
